When most parents come to us seeking orthodontic care for their children and tweens, they think there are two paths - braces and clear aligners. What they don’t realize is that both braces and clear aligners come in many different forms these days AND more importantly they are a tool in an orthodontist’s tool kit - not the be all, end all of orthodontic treatment.
At Quest Orthodontics we want parents to understand a little more about the options available so that they feel more educated coming into our practice for a complimentary consult. So, what are these options, you ask?
Three of our favorites are: LightForce, Clear Aligners and In Brace. Read more below to understand the merits of each, then contact us to see if your child is a candidate. We can have a thorough discussion and will build a unique treatment plan based on 3D scans of your child’s mouth and jaw and based on our discussion of your needs and goals.
LightForce: LightForce are the world’s only 3D printed braces. This orthodontic system is 100% customizable, bringing a flexibility and control never seen before in the treatment process. Unlike traditional braces, the brackets and braces are 3D printed exclusively for your child’s mouth - plus they’re white to match your child’s teeth! LightForce’s 3D technology prints brackets to be patient-specific, allowing us to map a pathway to a better, healthier smile based on your child’s unique needs. Because LightForce optimizes tooth movement, it ensures comfort for our youngest patients, and best of all, limits the time you need to spend in our office. Also, custom brackets can mean fewer emergency appointments for broken braces that don’t adhere as well to your mouth.
Clear Aligners: By this point, we’re sure you’ve heard of clear aligners. They are an AWESOME orthodontic tool. If your child wants a clear look and the comfort of zero brackets, clear aligners are the way to go. Additionally, if you’re concerned about your child’s oral hygiene, clear aligners mean an easier brushing experience throughout treatment. Oh, and don’t worry, the plastic is 100% safe!
In-Brace (or Lingual Braces): Nervous about clear aligners for your child but traumatized by your own past brace-face? (We get it, kids can be mean.) In-Brace or lingual braces could be a great option! Lingual is a fancy word that orthodontists use to refer to the inside of your teeth. With lingual braces, the brackets and wire are placed on the inside of your child’s teeth - hence the name In-Brace. And don’t worry about it taking extra time to get those brackets on the inside of your child’s teeth - we use indirect bonding which ensures perfect placement and a quick fit! If you’re looking for the cosmetic advantages of plastic aligners and the permanence of traditional braces Quest Orthodontics has the perfect solution for you: In-Brace offers the best of both worlds.
Regardless of which path we take for your child, you will be cared for by an experienced orthodontist. Dr. Patel has undergone extensive orthodontic training, is Board Certified and has earned the trust of thousands of families in the area. We’ll start with 3D scans to ensure that any treatment is customized and unique for your child and we’ll discuss a full treatment plan after a complimentary consultation.
