Invisible Braces in Atlanta: Types, Cost, Pros and Cons

July 15, 2022

Orthodontic braces can create the straight and beautiful smile you've always wanted. But what if you don’t like the look of traditional metal braces? Enter invisible braces: orthodontic treatment with a minimal appearance.

This article explores the invisible braces we offer at our orthodontic practice in Atlanta. To help you compare, we will also cover the pros and cons of each option along with their cost.

Clear Aligners

Clear Aligner Therapy is a discreet way to straighten teeth without metal wires or brackets. Made of transparent plastic, clear aligners are virtually undetectable on the patient’s teeth. Custom-made for each patient, they are designed with convenience and comfort in mind.

Patients must wear their clear aligners for 20 to 23 hours per day, only removing them to eat, brush, and floss. Patients typically switch to a new set of aligners every few weeks until their teeth are fully straightened.

Like braces, clear aligners apply gentle force to the teeth to guide them into their proper position. While most orthodontic cases can be improved with clear aligners, other treatment methods are better suited for some severe cases.

How Much Do Clear Aligners Cost?

At our orthodontic practice in Atlanta, we use Invisalign clear aligners to treat a wide range of orthodontic issues. On average, the cost of full Invisalign treatment ranges between $3,000 and $8,000, depending on your treatment needs. This is comparable to the cost of traditional metal braces. If your teeth only require a minor to moderate adjustment, you may be a good candidate for Qlear Smile Aligners. This treatment ranges between $750 and $2,450, depending on the severity of your case.

Lingual Braces

Also called “inside braces” and “behind-the-teeth braces,” lingual braces allow patients to maintain their natural smile while correcting their teeth and bite.

Like traditional braces, lingual braces use brackets and wires to “pull” the misaligned teeth and jaw into the correct position. However, lingual braces only attach to the backside of the teeth. Fitting comfortably against the natural shape of your mouth, lingual braces are designed to be completely undetectable when you smile.

Lingual braces are suitable for patients as young as 12 years old. Brushing and flossing is easy with lingual braces, and patients can eat or drink whatever they like during treatment. While you may experience minor irritation during the first few days, patients with lingual braces typically do not experience as much discomfort as those with conventional braces.

How Much Do Lingual Braces Cost?

At Quest Orthodontics in Atlanta, we offer InBrace Lingual Braces to straighten teeth quickly and comfortably. The cost of these lingual braces ranges between $5,000 to $7,500, depending on your individual treatment needs.

Compared to traditional braces, lingual braces are slightly more expensive because they are made of higher-cost materials which require specialized training.

We also provide Brava technology, which moves each tooth independently from behind. Visit our office in Sandy Springs for more information!

Clear Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are one of the most popular types of clear braces. They are similar to metal braces, but they use clear or tooth-colored brackets and wires. These materials blend in with your natural smile, making them a great option for adults who are self-concious about wearing braces.

Ceramic braces straighten teeth the same way that metal braces do. Unlike clear aligners, which have some limitations, an orthodontist can use ceramic braces to treat a wide range of alignment issues.

Though modern braces are slimmer than they used to be, ceramic brackets are slightly wider than their metal counterparts. However, ceramic braces are still less noticeable because they blend in with your teeth.

How Much Do Ceramic Braces Cost?

On average, ceramic braces cost between $4,000 and $8,000, depending on your orthodontic case. This is slightly more expensive than the average cost of traditional braces, but not by much.

As a way to save money, some patients may opt to place ceramic braces only on the most visible teeth (typically the upper teeth) while using metal brackets on the remaining teeth that aren’t as visible.
